The Wanderbird’s songs sip from the deep well of American Folk Music, inspired by a childhood encircled by an extended family of musicians in the Ozark Mountains. Upon leaving home at 18, he honed his voice & verse on street corners and dive-bar stages from Miami to Mexico, rarely remaining in any one place longer than a few months. It was during those years, Jason received the moniker The Wanderbird from the small community of drifters, dreamers and runaways he'd come to look upon as family and who would become the inspiration for countless songs & stories recounted in his live shows. In 2014 an invitation to Germany for an inaugural overseas tour led to festival & venue performances throughout the U.K., Canada & Europe in the preceding years. In 2023 Jason released his first book of short stories before joining forces with his long-time friend Otto McCarthy in 2025 to form Palla Records and begin recording his extensive back-catalog of unreleased songs. You won't find The Wanderbird on social media, but the bi-monthly newsletter (which can be joined below) is a favored alternative to the algorithm.
